The Game
A high-fidelity prototype of an Augmented Reality mobile experience that would extend the brand identity of an animated TV show by Rainmaker Entertainment.
The game cannot be shown publicly because of NDAs, but footage can be shown upon request. My Role
We were a team of six - and I was the technical and creative lead in the team.
As the primary game designer for the game, my main challenge was to design a mobile experience in a relatively novel field - augmented reality, and utilizing its strengths and weaknesses for the intended target audience. I was also responsible for quick prototyping, brainstorming and story-boarding designs/ideas with the team, and writing part of the game design documentation. The game being on the strategic side, I was also responsible for tuning the system to ensure a fun experience. As the lead programmer of the game, I wrote most of the gameplay code in Unity3D with C#. Programming for augmented reality provided various new challenges (such as technical issues with gyroscopes) and I had to overcome them to ensure a smooth working prototype. I co-ordinated with the other programmer through Git/SourceTree to maintain and update the code-base. In the absence of our project manager due to unexpected circumstances, I took on project management for the team, and was responsible for writing the first drafts of the team and project charter, as well as managing the team through an agile process including sprints, and regular scrums. The whole process of development is documented here. |
